AC Milan chief confirms interest in Man Utd striker Rasmus Hojlund

The 22-year-old was left out of the squad entirely as United fell 1-0 to Mikel Arteta's side at Old Trafford. Manager Ruben Amorim opted to start new attacking signings Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, with Benjamin Sesko named on the bench. Hojlund was not involved and watched from the stands.

Signed from Atalanta in a high-profile 72 million pound move in August 2023, Hojlund has struggled to justify his price tag, scoring just 14 goals in 62 Premier League appearances. Despite making clear his desire to remain and compete for a place in the squad, sources indicate United are open to offers and value him at around 30 million pounds.

Milan, who remain admirers of Hojlund following his successful spell in Serie A, are exploring a move to bring the Denmark international back to Italy. Speaking to Mediaset on Sunday, Milan sporting director Igli Tare confirmed the club's interest.

"Hojlund is a good option for us," Tare said. "We are thinking about him, but in the transfer market, you never know what could happen."

The Rossoneri are reportedly considering a loan deal or a reduced fee, rather than meeting United's full valuation.

When asked about Hojlund's absence from the squad and his long-term future at the club, Amorim gave little away.

"It is our player - we have to make choices," the United manager said. "He has to fight for his place. Rasmus has the same characteristics as Sesko, so sometimes we need to choose."

With just under two weeks remaining in the summer transfer window, Hojlund's future at Old Trafford remains uncertain. Milan, meanwhile, continue to monitor the situation closely as they look to reinforce their forward line ahead of the new Serie A campaign.
