Arne Slot banks on summer transfers to improve Liverpool after Chelsea draw

The Reds have had an underwhelming defense of the 2024/25 Premier League title whilst also failing to win any silverware including an FA Community Shield loss to Crystal Palace on penalties.

However, Dutch coach Slot has assured supporters that his side will produce better results next season if they can get their intended targets during the summer.

"This season they [fans] will have their opinion and it will not change," said Slot at the post match conference after clash with Chelsea.

"But if we can have the summer that we are planning to have, then I'm 100 per cent convinced that we will be a different team next season than we are now.

"Different in terms of results, different in how things look, but it's not always that simple because sometimes you know what you have to do, but it's not always possible to also get exactly what you want."

The Merseyside outfit will be facing a revamp, with veteran stars Mohamed Salah and Andrew Robertson confirmed to be leaving Anfield at the end of the current campaign.

"For us, for me, it's really clear what we are lacking this season and we're trying with the players we have now because one of the things we are lacking is players that are fit," added Slot.

Liverpool currently occupy fourth spot on the league table but are yet to secure Champions League football for next season, with Aston Villa, Bournemouth and Brighton still in contention.
