Bayern coach Vincent Kompany reveals why Jamal Musiala collapsed twice

Musiala, 23, required medical attention after collapsing shortly after coming on during Bayern's 4-2 friendly win at Heidenheim on Tuesday.

The Germany international had also gone down during the 3-1 friendly victory over RB Leipzig last Saturday.

Musiala revealed this week that he had been diagnosed with the condition and described the episodes as "currently part of my everyday life".

Kompany said there was no reason for alarm after speaking to the midfielder about the situation.

"I spoke with Jamal, he said, 'no problem, you can say it'," Kompany told a press conference.

"With his treatment, he changed some things and that had some side effects. That is normal, that during treatment you try something else."

Bayern sporting director Max Eberl also stressed that Musiala has the full support of the club and his teammates.

"We've known about it the entire last season," Eberl said. "The players also knew about it. For us, it's become part of everyday life.

"He changed something in his medication, which is why these situations became clear. We will give him all our support, have already done so, and will continue to do so. We're doing this together."

Musiala will miss Saturday's German Super Cup clash with Borussia Dortmund as he continues to adjust following the decision to make his condition public.

The midfielder has also been working his way back to his best after a serious injury in July 2025 kept him out for six months.

Kompany believes Musiala has made significant progress and is ready to respond on the pitch.

"I am completely calm," the Bayern coach said. "I now expect the counter-attack from Jamal. I have the feeling that he now has all the means to deliver these answers.

"For me as a coach, I know he has taken a huge step forward."

Bayern will face Dortmund in the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup on Saturday before beginning their Bundesliga campaign against Stuttgart on 28 August.
