Black Caps without strike bowlers Matt Henry and Kyle Jamieson for third Test

Perhaps the biggest loss is seamer Matt Henry. The veteran earned match-winning figures of 11/109 at the Oval last week, a performance which took him to the top of the ICC's Test bowling rankings. Unfortunately, a scan revealed a low-grade muscle strain with an anticipated recovery time of two to four weeks.

Meanwhile, fellow quick Kyle Jamieson is being forced to rest as part of his recovery from a back issue. Finally, Glenn Phillips, fresh off his maiden Test century, has a side strain.

Blair Tinker and Ben Sears shore up the bowling department, while wily campaigner Mitchell Santer comes in as the all-rounder.

For England, they welcome back captain Ben Stokes, who is fresh off more nightclub tomfoolery, as well as seamer Gus Atkinson.

New Zealand's captain Tom Latham was visibly relieved to win a crucial toss this morning and unsurprisingly chose to bat first in the steamy Nottingham conditions which are predicted to get worse.
