Chawinga Sisters fire Malawi into historic WAFCON Final

Sisters Tabitha and Temwa Chawinga scored all three goals to continue the Scorchers' remarkable run on their WAFCON debut.

Algeria's task became more difficult in the 23rd minute when Morgane Belkhiter was sent off, reducing the North Africans to ten players. Despite their numerical disadvantage, Algeria defended resolutely and attempted to contain Malawi's dangerous attack.

Malawi continued to attack in the second stanza, with Temwa going close after racing past three defenders. Her effort, however, narrowly missed the target.

Algeria pulled a goal back in the 60th minute. Marine Dafeur's dangerous free-kick caused confusion in the Malawi penalty area, allowing Ikram Adjabi to react quickest and volley the loose ball home. in a goalmouth scramble.

With Algeria pushing for an equaliser, Tabitha delivered the decisive blow. The forward beat her marker before firing a left-footed shot into the net to complete her brace.

Algeria nearly clawed one back in the 87th minute when substitute Laura Muller rounded the goalkeeper. Her delayed finish allowed Malawi's recovering defenders to get a crucial block. Malawi held firm during the closing stages to secure a famous victory.
