CSA Awards honour Proteas stars Aiden Markram, Laura Wolvaardt and Simon Harmer

The glittering ceremony took place at Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg and reflected on a superlative period in South Africa's cricket history.

While Proteas Men upped their consistency in white-ball tournaments, the jewel in their crown was undoubtedly their superlative victory in the World Test Championship Final against Australia at Lord's.

Meanwhile, the Proteas Women reached their maiden ODI World Cup final and now count themselves among the world's best in limited-overs.

As such, it was no surprise that captains Markram and Wolvaardt were the power couple of the evening. Markram was named the SA Men's Player of the Year and the Players' Player of the Year, with his clutch 4th innings century at the home of cricket guiding the Proteas to WTC glory.

Not to be outdone, Wolvaardt was named the Women's Player of the Year, SA Women's Players' Player of the Year and Women's ODI Player of the Year, completing the awards sweep. The opening batter became the first woman to score centuries in both the semifinal and final of the ODI World Cup in India last November.

Spinner Simon Harmer scooped the Men's Test Cricketer of the Year award after his sensational performances on tour in Pakistan and India last year. The veteran tweaker helped draw the Pakistan series with an eight-wicket haul, then collected 17 wickets as the Proteas completed an incredible 2-0 sweep of India.

Proteas seamer Lungi Ngidi was rewarded for his excellence with three awards: the Men's T20 Player of the Year, the SA Fans' Player of the Year, and the Best Men's Delivery of the Year Fuelled by KFC.
