The Proteas' injury concerns have deepened with Lutho Sipamla ruled out of the remainder of the T20I tri-series in Namibia.
David Bedingham continues prolific batting form in English County Championship
Bedingham struck 122 in the first innings to help Durham beat Gloucestershire by 10 wickets to edge closer to promotion to Division One of the County Championship.
It was a fifth first-class century of the 2026 English domestic season for Bedingham in Durham colours, as the South African tops the batting charts in Division Two with 943 runs in 10 matches at an average of more than 78.
The 32-year-old will be eager to regain his place in the Proteas Test line-up with home series against Australia, Bangladesh and England to look forward to in the next few months.
Bedingham did not feature the last time the Proteas played Test cricket in December 2025, with a hamstring injury ruling him out of the historic series victory in India.
He will look to to maintain his form with the bat for Western Province with the CSA domestic 4-Day competition starting on 10 September.
Bedingham should come into contention for Proteas selection for the three-match Test against Australia that gets underway in Durban on 9 October.
