Dewald Brevis, Bryce Parsons combine to power Capitals past Sunrisers into SA20 final

Chasing a target of 171, the Capitals reached 172-3 in just 18.3 overs, with nine balls to spare, powered by a scintillating 91-run partnership between Brevis and Parsons for the third wicket. Brevis, finally delivering on his burgeoning potential, blazed his way to an unbeaten 75 off 38 balls, striking four boundaries and seven sixes.

Parsons, after a fine contribution with the ball, anchored the innings with a composed 60 from 44 deliveries, combining patience with timely aggression. Support from Connor Esterhuizen (22 off 19) and Shai Hope (11 off 9) helped maintain momentum as the Capitals chased down the target with apparent ease.

Earlier, the Sunrisers looked set for a strong total after Jonny Bairstow compiled a rapid 50 from 36 balls and Jordan Hermann added 41 from 30 deliveries. However, key dismissals late in the innings saw their hopes unravel.

Quinton de Kock fell for 19 to Roston Chase, while Hermann was trapped lbw by Parsons, and Bairstow fell to Keshav Maharaj (2/24). Parsons and Maharaj then ripped through the middle and lower order, with Parsons finishing with figures of 3-10. Only a late cameo from James Coles (17 off 4) added late runs, lifting the Sunrisers to 170-7.

The victory sets the Pretoria Capitals up for a final showdown at Newlands, Cape Town, on Sunday against the winner of Thursday's Eliminator between the Paarl Royals and Joburg Super Kings. The Sunrisers, meanwhile, will get a second chance to reach the final, facing the Eliminator victor in Centurion.

For the Capitals, this marks a return to the SA20 final after a near-decade absence; they were runners-up in the inaugural season, falling to the Sunrisers by four wickets at the Wanderers.

Wednesday's emphatic performance, led by Brevis and Parsons, demonstrated the team's ability to combine youthful flair with tactical composure under pressure, setting the stage for what promises to be a thrilling title clash.
