Dewald Brevis stars as Proteas hit back in T20 tri-series against Zimbabwe

The South Africans had fallen to an 18-run loss to hosts Namibia on Friday, but put in an emphatic performance to register their victory of the tournament.

Zimbabwe had elected to bat first after winning the toss and opening pair Ben Curran and Brian Bennett added 45 inside six overs before Jansen made the breakthrough to dismiss the former for 24.  

Bennet was then dismissed by off-spinner Prenelan Subrayen for 34 and the Proteas then took wickets at regular intervals to restrict Zimbabwe tot a total of 144-8.

Jansen finished with figures of 3-45 while Subrayen was once again economical for 2-27 in his four overs while there was also a debut wicket for seamer Eathan Bosch, who now has a T20I cap to add to his his solitary ODI appearance.

Proteas openers Lhuan-dre Pretorius and Jordan Hermann then got the South Africans off to a fast start in the run-chase, putting on 32 inside four overs.

Pretorius fell for 22 while Jordan Hermann was out for 20 but Brevis walked to the crease and smashed seven fours and six sixes as the Proteas cantered to victory with more than six overs to spare.

The next game in the tri-series will see hosts Namibia take on Zimbabwe with the Proteas' next game on Tuesday when they play Zimbabwe again.
