Elliot Anderson focusses on 2026 World Cup as transfer storm builds

The Nottingham Forest midfielder has been one of the standout performers in the Premier League over the past two seasons, a rise that has placed him firmly on the radar of Europe's elite.

Despite strong links to Manchester United and Manchester City, Anderson remains grounded.

"Obviously we've got the World Cup this summer so all my eyes are on that," he said. "Playing for England, I've got the badge on now so that's all I'm thinking about at the moment."

The 23-year-old, now a regular under Thomas Tuchel, knows consistency at club level will be key if he is to secure a starting role on the biggest stage. "I want it that way," he added. "But I've got a season left with Forest. I've got plenty of games and there's plenty of time until then.

"I've got to keep my standards high and make sure that happens."

Behind the scenes, interest in Anderson continues to intensify. City are understood to view him as a long-term successor to Rodri, while United have identified him as a central figure in their summer midfield rebuild.

Former club Newcastle United are also monitoring his situation, alongside interest from Liverpool, Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Chelsea.

Forest, however, are in a strong position. Having signed Anderson for around 35 million pounds in 2024, the club are now believed to value him between 100 million and 120 million pounds, with potential offers expected to begin closer to 80 million pounds.

For now, Anderson is keeping his focus simple: maintain his form, deliver for Forest, and ensure his place on the plane when England head to the World Cup.
