Enzo Maresca: Man City will 'see what happens' with Barcelona target Rodri

The former Ballon d'Or winner has made his preference clear, turning down interest from Real Madrid in favour of a move to Hansi Flick's Barcelona.

His current agreement with City runs until the off-season of 2027, giving the Premier League side significant leverage in negotiations.

Barcelona sporting director Deco and the club's hierarchy are seeking to bring down the eventual transfer cost while still satisfying City's valuation. However, the two sides have yet to find common ground, with no significant progress or agreement reached at this stage.

Despite the impasse, there is growing confidence that Barcelona will ultimately secure Rodri's signature.

City head coach Enzo Maresca was asked about the midfielder during a media appearance on Friday, with his remarks coming as talks between the clubs continue.

"The transfer window is open... we can buy players, we can sell, anything can happen. I've just seen Rodri. I gave him a big hug. He looks good. We'll see what happens!"
