Igor Jesus joins Nottingham Forest from Botafogo after star turn at Club World Cup

The 24-year-old striker has been one of the breakout stars of the Club World Cup, scoring twice for Botafogo in the U.S.-hosted tournament - including a dramatic winner against European champions Paris Saint-Germain. That performance caught the attention of clubs across the continent, but it's Forest who have landed his signature.

Jesus only joined Botafogo from UAE side Shabab Al Ahli last year, but his impact was immediate. His form in Brazil's top flight earned him a debut call-up to the national team during the October and November World Cup qualifiers. He marked the occasion with a goal against Chile, cementing his rising status in Brazilian football.

Now, he brings his flair and finishing touch to the Premier League.

"I'm really happy to be part of this new story, especially at a club like Nottingham Forest," Jesus said after signing. "I didn't have to think twice-I embraced the project they offered. I'm excited to be here and hope to achieve great things."

Forest are coming off a rollercoaster season where they flirted with a top-four finish before ultimately landing seventh in the league - securing a spot in this year's UEFA Europa Conference League.

Jesus is expected to be a key part of Forest's push for silverware and a return to Europe's elite competitions. His arrival signals the club's growing ambition-and belief that their resurgence is only just beginning.
