The home team piled on a mammoth 546--8 declared in he first innings thanks to centuries from captain Shubman Gill (126) and KL Rahul (100).

Sai Sudharsan and wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant both contributed 81 while Washington Sundar added a 52 not out as India called time on their batting innings in the second session on the second day.

Afghanistan were then reeling on 113-5 at the close of play before being out for 152 on the third morning with Rahmat Shah top-scoring with 60 while India's debutant spinner Manav Suthar took 6-33 in 10 overs.

Gill then enforced the follow-on and Afghanistan folded like a pack of cards as they were 112 all out in just 35.5 overs as Sundar took 4-36 while fellow spinner Kuldeep Yadav returned figures of 3-30.

The teams will now prepare for the three-match ODI series that starts in Dharamsala on Saturday.
