IPL: Shreyas Iyer ton powers Punjab Kings to seven-wicket win over Super Giants

The result lifted them into the top four, where they will remain if Rajasthan Royals lose their final match against Mumbai Indians.

Lucknow Super Giants, weakened by the absence of Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram, fielded only two overseas players and still managed 196, built on 28 boundaries.

Their innings fluctuated sharply: overs 2-4 produced just six runs, while overs 1, 5 and 6 generated 58, highlighting an inconsistent powerplay.

Ayush Badoni was promoted to No. 4 ahead of Rishabh Pant and exploded briefly, moving from 2 off 5 to 42 off 15 before being stumped by Prabhsimran Singh off Yuzvendra Chahal.

Josh Inglis also made a strong impact with 16 off 6 before reaching a fifty, accelerating again to 29 off 9 before Shashank Singh removed him in the 17th over. Pant contributed 26 off 22, was dropped by Shreyas Iyer on 20 off 19, and later fell to Chahal.

Arshdeep Singh endured a difficult outing, conceding heavily including 10 boundaries and finishing with an economy rate of 17.33 before being taken out of the attack after a final over costing 17 runs.

In response, Punjab Kings were reduced to 22/2 in the third over before Shreyas Iyer and Prabhsimran Singh rebuilt the chase.

Prabhsimran struck 69, while Iyer produced a dominant innings full of cut shots and deep crease work, reaching 61 off 36 when 47 were still required. Both registered their sixth fifty-plus scores of the season.

Iyer's acceleration, including boundaries off Arjun Tendulkar and sixes off Mohammed Shami, took control, before he finished the chase with a six off Mohsin Khan when 10 runs were needed, sealing a composed victory.

Marco Jansen (4-0-33-2) and Vijaykumar Vyshak bowled tight late spells, but PBKS held firm to close out the win.
