Junior Bok 'Tank' Ethan Adams draws inspiration from De Allende and Nonu

The 19-year-old, who stands 1.75m and weighs 102kg, has already drawn attention for his physical presence, direct running style and explosive step.

Adams delivered a series of stand-out performances in the U20 Rugby Championship, crossing for several impressive tries that showcased his ability to beat defenders with pace and power.

Speaking to Rapport, Adams revealed he has modelled his game on two-time World Cup winner Damian de Allende and former All Blacks great Ma'a Nonu.

"There wasn't just one person I looked up to," Adams said. "It was those guys. I wanted to play like them."

Nicknamed 'The Tank', Adams has reinforced his growing reputation in the opening rounds of the U20 Rugby Championship in Gqeberha, underlining why the Lions moved quickly to secure his services.

"I like the Lions' game and it suits my game too," Adams added. "I'm grateful that they gave me a chance. The main reason I went there is because they have good junior structures."

He has already gained experience with the Lions U23 side and is expected to form a midfield partnership with Stormers prospect Markus Muller at the upcoming Junior World Championship in Georgia.

The Junior Springboks conclude their Rugby Championship campaign against New Zealand on Saturday, having already secured the title with their win over Australia.
