Kane Williamson confirms IPL comeback with Lucknow Super Giants

The former Kiwi captain has been taken on as a Strategic Advisor. Williamson will work alongside head coach Justin Langer and bowling coach Bharat Arun. LSG took to social media to announce the signing on Thursday.

"Cool. Calm. Calculated. Kane Williamson is now part of our think tank as our Strategic Advisor," read the tweet.

Williams has a storied IPL history with Sunrisers Hyderabad, who he led to the final of the 2018 edition, where they lost to Chennai Super Kings. That season, he was the top scorer with 735 runs. Overall, he captained them in 46 matches, the second-highest behind David Warner's 67. He last featured for Sunrisers in 2022.

"I'm really excited to be joining LSG," the 35-year-old told the press.

"They have a hugely talented squad and a great group of coaches, which I'm looking forward to working alongside. It's always special being involved in the IPL, the best franchise competition in the game."

Williamson, who averages an outrageous 54.88 in Tests and 49.21 in ODIs, continues to be available for national duty for the Black Caps.
