Man Utd open door to naming rights for 100,000-seat stadium

The idea was confirmed by New Stadium Development chief executive Collette Roche during the unveiling of a draft masterplan for the wider regeneration scheme around Old Trafford.

The broader project spans about 370 acres and is expected to generate roughly 48,000 jobs while providing around 15,000 new homes.

The proposed stadium itself would hold 100,000 spectators and be built approximately 350 yards from the current Old Trafford, on land the club said it acquired last month.

For the first time, the masterplan pinpointed the exact site of the planned ground. However, the "circus tent" concept presented by Sir Jim Ratcliffe in March 2025 was absent, with Roche stressing that the design remains under development.

United will continue discussions with Foster and Partners and consult supporters before presenting revised plans by late 2026 or early 2027.

"We've been really clear from the onset, this needs to be a sanity project, not a vanity project," said Roche.

"I don't know what the stadium will be called but we've been really vocal that we are going to potentially look at naming rights to the stadium.

"It's an important revenue stream and something we've discussed with our fan advisory board.

"Everybody realises affordable, accessible ticket prices are really important. In order to do that, we need to generate revenue streams in other places.

"Everyone said building a new stadium is going to be really expensive."
