Orbit College forced to relocate fixture against Orlando Pirates

Orbit College general manager Matome Kganakga confirmed the change, saying the club will announce a new venue during the course of the day for the May 23 season finale.

"I am going to issue a statement for the team today, but we will not play Pirates at Royal Bafokeng. We will confirm the venue today," Kganakga said.

He explained that the stadium in Rustenburg is simply not ready to host matches.

"Royal Bafokeng isn't ready to host games, they set their timeline for stadium readiness in June," he added.

Reports suggest the fixture could now be moved to the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha, a ground Orbit College have already used this season when they faced Kaizer Chiefs on April 6.

The venue change comes at a critical point in Orbit's season, with logistics and stadium safety also playing a key role in the decision.

Their usual home ground, Olympia Park in Rustenburg, has also raised concerns in recent months over compliance and safety standards for high-profile matches. When Orbit hosted Mamelodi Sundowns there in March, issues were highlighted around damaged and rusted stands, with sections of seating left unusable.

There were also reports of supporters entering the stadium without tickets during that match, raising further concerns over crowd control and security procedures.

With the season finale approaching, attention now turns to the final confirmation of the venue, as Orbit prepare to close out their campaign against one of South Africa's biggest clubs, Orlando Pirates.
