Orlando Pirates' Tapelo Xoki opens up about rehabilitation struggles after road accident

Bucs boss Abdeslam Ouaddou and five members of staff were involved in an accident on the R21 highway on their way back from a 3–0 Betway Premiership victory over Chippa United.

The incident occured after the group stopped to assist injured passengers in a previous collision.

Speaking about the accident, that saw Ouaddou break an arm, the former AmaZulu centre-back, who is still undergoing treatment, explained that the accident effected him a lot.

He said on Soccer Laduma: "I can say I'm grateful to be alive and having another chance to go with life.

"I'm busy doing rehab currently, taking it one day at a time.

"I'm grateful to the club for the support and everyone that has supported me through this difficult time. I'm just grateful to have another chance at life."

Xoki added that it has been a difficult road to recovery but he can see a light at the end of a dark tunnel.

"It's been difficult, but I would say it's been a nice challenge to help the guys that are playing from outside and not training with them, but I'm trying to impact any positivity that I can to help the team," he said.

Pirates are next in action at home to Marumo Gallants in the Betway Premiership on Saturday 14 February.
