Sachin Tendulkar sings praises of 'truly special' Vaibhav Sooryavanshi
Teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has earned high praise from India batting legend Sachin Tendulkar after an outstanding season in the 2026 Indian Premier League.

Cummins, skipper of Australia, finished the match against Rajasthan Royals with figures of 0/64, a return heavily shaped by Sooryavanshi's explosive strokeplay.
In one over from Cummins, Sooryavanshi unleashed 25 runs, including a four and three consecutive sixes, swinging the momentum decisively.
"I'd say [the mood in India] is still a little bit of disbelief. I think he's got enough credits now that he's not just a flash in the pan. He's a real talent," Cummins said on the Sydney Morning Herald.
"He's just a really good hitter of the ball. He's clearing [the boundary] by 20 or 30 metres, so your margins for error become really small when someone is that strong and has got so many options. He's really impressive."
The teenage batter, who narrowly missed Chris Gayle's benchmark for the fastest IPL century in that innings, eventually fell for 97 off 29 balls at a strike rate of 334.48.
Sooryavanshi's extraordinary season included 776 runs from 16 innings at an average of 48.50 and a strike rate of 237.30, featuring one century and five half-centuries. He also set a new IPL record for most sixes in a single season, surpassing Chris Gayle.
The 15-year-old's achievements saw him become the youngest ever recipient of the IPL Orange Cap, capping a breakout campaign that left a significant impression even on seasoned opponents like Cummins, who later conceded the season confirmed it was no one-off performance.
