Patrice Motsepe heads to Morocco amid AFCON final dispute

The visit comes in the wake of a controversial decision by CAF's judicial bodies regarding the final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which was awarded as a 3-0 victory to Morocco national football team.

However, the Senegalese Football Federation has formally challenged the ruling and taken the matter to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

During his stay in Rabat, Motsepe is expected to meet Fouzi Lekjaa, president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, along with other key stakeholders, Moroccoworldnews.com reported.

A press conference is also scheduled, where CAF is likely to provide further clarity on the decision and address broader issues affecting the continental game.

The Morocco visit follows Motsepe's recent trip to Senegal and forms part of a wider diplomatic tour aimed at resolving tensions stemming from the AFCON final dispute.

Ultimately, the trip underscores CAF's commitment to maintaining the integrity of its competitions while actively engaging with member associations to manage disputes and oversee football development across the continent.
