Proteas batter David Bedingham stars for Durham in English County Championship

David Bedingham (Durham)

The number 4 batter struck 118 off just 135 balls in Durham's imposing first-innings total of 605-5 declared against the hosts in Bristol.

It was Bedingham's 26th century in first-class cricket and the 31-year-old has an impressive career average of just under 50 in 125 matches.

Durham's bowlers then went to work and dismissed Gloucestershire for 175 before enforcing the follow-on.

The visitors were not done and the home outfit did not fare much better in the second innings after being bowled out for 205 as Durham walked away with a win by an innings and 225 runs inside three days.

Simon Harmer and Wiaan Mulder (Essex)

Proteas duo Simon Harmer and Wiaan Mulder did not enjoy the best of outings as Essex fell to a 10-wicket defeat against Somerset at Chelmsford.

Both players were out for ducks as the home side were bowled out for just 149 in their first innings before the visitors replied with a total 348.

Off-spinner Harmer took 1-60 in 16 overs while seamer Mulder went wicketless in seven overs while conceding 21 runs.

Mulder contributed 31 with the bat in his second stint at the crease while Harmer scored 20 but Essex were dismissed for 245, leaving Somerset a target of 47, which the openers knocked off.

Codi Yusuf (Hampshire)

Yusuf took only one wicket across two innings but it was fellow South African seamer Kyle Abbott who took 10 in the match as Hampshire beat Yorkshire by 214 runs at Headingley.

The visitors scored 251 in the first innings before restricting the home side to 177 all out, with Yusuf taking 1-32 in 13.4 overs while the 35-year-old Abbott took 4-49.

Hampshire then piled on 351-5 declared in their second innings to set Yorkshire a target of 426 in the fourth innings.

Yusuf went wicketless in the final innings but Abbott added another six to his tally as Hampshire recorded their first win of the season.

Kyle Verreynne (Nottinghamshire)

The Proteas wicketkeeper-batter did not contribute much with the bat but was tidy behind the stumps to help his team beat Glamorgan by 192 runs at Trent Bridge.

Verreynne scored 14 in Notts' first innings total of 279 and then took four catches as the visitors could reply with 113 all out.

The Proteas gloveman then only contributed 5 in his team's second innings total of 311-9 declared before Glamorgan were out for 285 on the final day with Verreynne snaffling three catches.
