Rain ends India's final group-stage clash with Bangladesh in Women's World Cup

The encounter saw multiple interruptions before eventually being called off with India comfortably placed at 57 without loss in pursuit of a revised 126-run target. Earlier, Bangladesh had managed 119 for 9 in 27 overs after a delayed start and repeated rain breaks.

After winning the toss, India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur opted to bowl first. The decision paid off immediately when Renuka Singh struck in the opening over, dismissing Bangladesh's Sumaiya Akter, who edged to Shree Charani at short third.

Rubya Haider and Sharmin Akhter attempted to stabilize the innings, but India's bowlers kept the pressure on. Deepti Sharma removed Haider in the 10th over, leaving Bangladesh struggling at 34 for 2. Soon after, another heavy shower halted play for nearly two hours, forcing officials to shorten the match to 27 overs a side.

When play resumed, Radha Yadav's sharp fielding produced a run-out to dismiss Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana. Yadav continued her fine spell, claiming three more wickets — Sobhana Mostary, Nahida Akter, and Rabeya Khan — to dismantle the middle order.

Shree Charani added two wickets to her tally, including the top scorer Sharmin Akhter (36), while Amanjot Kaur chipped in with one. Bangladesh ended their rain-hit innings at 119 for 9.

India's chase began with Smriti Mandhana and Amanjot Kaur opening the innings, as Pratika Rawal sat out due to an ankle injury. After a cautious start, Mandhana found her rhythm, striking four consecutive boundaries off Nishita Akter Nishi in the fourth over.

The pair put on an unbroken 57-run stand, but just as India looked set for a comfortable victory, rain returned once more — this time ending the match for good.

With the washout, India advanced to the semi-finals, where they will face defending champions Australia on Thursday.

Match Summary:
Bangladesh: 119/9 in 27 overs (Sharmin Akhter 36; Radha Yadav 3/30)
India: 57/0 in 7.4 overs (Smriti Mandhana 34*)
Result: Match abandoned due to rain
