Report: Inter Milan monitoring Andre Onana amid doubts over United future

The 29-year-old was absent from United's opening day home defeat against Arsenal, fuelling rumours of a possible rift.

Manager Ruben Amorim was quick to clarify that Onana had not been dropped, but rather sidelined due to injury issues that also ruled him out of pre-season. However, questions persist after his indifferent form towards the end of last season.

Onana joined United from Inter Milan for 47 million pounds shortly after starring in the Nerazzurri's run to the 2023 Champions League final, where they were narrowly beaten by Manchester City.

His heroics made him a cult figure among Inter fans, and his departure led to the signing of Swiss international Yann Sommer, who impressed as Inter reached last season's Champions League final before falling to PSG.

Since that defeat, Simone Inzaghi has left Inter for Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia, with Christian Chivu stepping in as head coach.

Chivu is eager to secure a new No. 1 goalkeeper, and although Inter are in talks with Royal Antwerp over Belgian stopper Senne Lammens - also linked with United - a return for Onana has not been ruled out if he becomes available.
