Sean Longstaff scores late as Leeds snatch dramatic point at Bournemouth

The game started at a high tempo, with Bournemouth looking the sharper side early on. David Brooks and Evanilson both went close, while Leeds goalkeeper Karl Darlow was called into action to keep the hosts at bay. Bournemouth's pressure finally paid off just after the hour mark. Marcos Senesi surged forward from midfield and slipped in Eli Junior Kroupi, whose effort deflected past Darlow to open the scoring. Leeds responded quickly, however, as James Hill turned the ball into his own net under pressure from Wilfried Gnonto.

The hosts thought they had secured the win late on when substitute Rayan Vitor Simplicio Rocha finished clinically in the 86th minute. Moments later, Bournemouth believed they had wrapped it up at 3-1, only for Evanilson's goal to be ruled out for a marginal offside.

That decision proved costly. Deep into added time, Leeds struck again as substitute Sean Longstaff volleyed home in the 97th minute to snatch a point.

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola was furious with the late equaliser, insisting it should have been disallowed. "I'm very angry, I'm disappointed, I'm frustrated," he said. "The offside position is clear, it affects Petrovic. He would have saved it if the player is not there."

He added: "We accepted the earlier offside because the decision was very tight, but this one is different. It's difficult to swallow."

Leeds boss Daniel Farke praised his side's resilience after they extended their unbeaten run. "It's a very priceless point," he said. "Not just for the table, but the manner of it - the mentality, the fight, the belief."

Farke added that reaching 40 points puts Leeds in a strong position to stay up. "We're in a good shape. It's a perfect morale boost for what's ahead."

The result keeps Bournemouth's impressive unbeaten league run intact but dents their push for European places, while Leeds head into their FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea full of confidence.
