Siwelele come out firing in PSL debut with victory over Golden Arrows

With 22,000 fans crammed into the venue known as "The Slaughterhouse" and eager to support the fledgling PSL outfit, the atmosphere was electric.

Coach Lehlohonolo Seema's men fed off the energy, striking twice in the space of a minute midway through the first half. Siviwe Magidigidi reacted quickest to a loose ball in the box to smash home the opener, before Vincent Pule pounced on a wayward pass, rounded goalkeeper Edward Maova, and slotted in from a tight angle.

Arrows, under the guidance of Manqoba Mngqithi and eager to bury the memories of a disappointing campaign, showed flashes of promise before the break but couldn't make them count. Three half-time substitutions briefly shifted the momentum, and Keenan Phillips pulled one back with a well-timed header at the back post.

But the visitors' revival was short-lived. Just minutes later, Magidigidi rose above his marker to nod in a Neo Rapoo corner, restoring Siwelele's two-goal cushion and sending the home crowd into raptures.

Pule thought he'd added a fourth, only for the offside flag to cut celebrations short, but victory was secure as Siwelele announced their presence in the top tier.
