South Africa Under-19s 261/7
Sri Lanka Under-19s 265/5 (46/50 ov, T:262)
South Africa, after choosing to bat, built a strong platform through a 96-run opening stand before Jorich van Schalwyk took charge. The right-hander played a superb innings, scoring a fighting 100 that held the innings together. Adnaan Lagadien added valuable support with a fluent 48, but momentum dipped as the middle order failed to kick on. Late resistance came from Paul James and Michael Kruiskamp, whose 40-run eighth-wicket stand pushed South Africa to a competitive total of 261 for 7.
Sri Lanka's bowlers responded well after that early pressure. Leg-spinner Vigneshwaran Akash was the standout, claiming four wickets and breaking the back of the innings. Kavija Gamage chipped in with two wickets, while Chamika Heentigala provided control to complete a disciplined bowling performance.
In reply, Sri Lanka lost an early wicket but never looked rattled. Viran Chamuditha anchored the chase with authority and composure, producing a match-winning 110 off 94 balls. He combined brilliantly with Senuja Wekunagoda in a decisive 143-run third-wicket partnership that swung the game firmly Sri Lanka's way. Wekunagoda fell just short of a half-century, but Chamuditha went on to register his second hundred of the tournament and was rightly named Player of the Match.
A brief wobble followed, but captain Vimath Dinsara's calm 32 ensured there were no late scares as Sri Lanka crossed the line at 265 for 5 in the 46th over.
The result leaves Sri Lanka Under-19 waiting on other results to determine their semi-final fate, while South Africa's campaign ended in disappointment despite flashes of promise.
