Tom Latham praises New Zealand's bravery after Test series win in England

The Black Caps became the first team ever to come from behind to a Test series in England following a 160-run victory at Trent Bridge which followed a 253-run success at the Oval.

What made New Zealand's series demolition even more impressive was the fact that they were forced to use most of the squad during the three matches, with injuries and significant retirement to navigate.

Kane Williamson called time on his international career after the first Test defeat at Lord's while Matt Henry and Glen Phillips, who both played key roles in the win at the Oval missed the deciding Test due to injury.

Latham said after the victory at Trent Bridge: "I've said it before, when you start the series, you obviously set out to be in this position.

"What I'm most proud about of this group is the way that they're able just to stick to the things that we wanted to do well, be really clear in terms of how we wanted to operate.

"Sometimes the results don't fall your way, sometimes they do, but we're fortunate enough that we're able to, I guess, be brave enough for long enough, and stick in there for those key moments and end up on the right side, which is certainly really pleasing."

The series win sees the Black Caps sit third in the World Test Championship table, behind Australia and South Africa, and it would be no surprise if they were to return to England in 2027 to play for the trophy they won in 2021.
