TS Galaxy shift focus to redemption after Orlando Pirates humiliation

The Rockets were humbled 6-0 at Mbombela Stadium, but the contest was effectively decided in the opening minutes when defender Oupa Motaung was sent off, leaving the hosts with a mountain to climb.

"We actually didn't expect this type of game. We prepared ourselves for something different, but a red card in the third minute made things very difficult for us," said Beganovic, as quoted by Sowetan.

Pirates took full advantage of the numerical edge, with Relebohile Mofokeng scoring a hat-trick, while Tshepang Moremi and Kamogelo Sebelebele also found the net, alongside an own goal from Mlungisi Mbunjana.

The result extended Galaxy's poor run to six defeats in their last seven league matches, but Beganovic refused to dwell solely on the negative, acknowledging the quality of the opposition.

"Pirates are a quality team who make life difficult not only for us but for many teams in the league," he added.

Instead, the Galaxy mentor believes the upcoming international break provides a timely opportunity for his squad to regroup.

"We need to analyse everything, focus on ourselves and fix our mistakes. I also think the Fifa break has arrived at the best time to prepare ourselves, not only physically, but mentally as well."

Despite their struggles, Beganovic remains optimistic that the season can still be salvaged through success in the Nedbank Cup and a push for a top eight finish.

"We can save our season if we can win the Nedbank Cup, but again we still have a great opportunity to finish in the top eight, although it's tough now," he said.

With a semi-final clash against Milford looming, Galaxy will be aiming to turn belief into results.
