Warriors win tense super over to claim maiden CSA T20 Challenge title

The visitors were on the cusp of victory only to sneak through to a superover, where their batters got them over the line for the first time in 15 seasons.

Set 143 to win, the Warriors started strong. They raced to 60/0 before Siya Mahima struck twice in two balls to keep Boland in the match. Mahima then trapped chief destroyer Jordan Hermann in front for a well-played 74 off 53 and with Senuran Muthsami and Tristan Stubbs at the crease, the title was in grasp.

Needing two runs off the last five balls, the Warrirors looked home. But Ayabulela Gqamane bowled Muthusamy, then the dot balls mounted the pressure. Incredibly, they attempted to scamper through for a bye to win, but Stubbs was run out off the last ball, leaving scores tied.

Stubbs and Hermann combined for 16 runs in the super over thanks to some creative hitting. In reply, Boland's Ferisco Adams was caught off the first ball. Aphiwe Mnyada continued his accuracy while Grant Roelofsen and Clyde Reeves-Fortuin ran out of time.

Earlier, regular wickets stunted Boland's total. They rocketed to 29 before opener Clyde Reeves-Fortuin attempted to slog Proteas and Warriors spinner Senuran Muthusamy, only to miss and get cleaned up.

Muthusamy struck again in his next over when  Roelofson (28 off 19) mis-timed his reverse sweep and was caught at third man.

Gavin Kaplan and Jhedli van Briesies were the next to fall and Boland were teetering at 80/2 in the 13th over.

Lehan Botha and Fersisco Adams put the innings back together. Scoring a quickfire 58 runs together before they were both dismissed in the final over off Wesley Bedja's seam bowling.
