The forward calmly converted from the penalty spot shortly after half-time to seal the victory, underlining his importance ahead of a decisive play-off.

DR Congo are now preparing for a high-stakes World Cup qualification final on 31 March, where they will face either New Caledonia or Jamaica. Victory would secure a place in Group K at this summer's tournament, alongside Portugal, Uzbekistan and Colombia. Wissa has been included in the squad as his country chase a first appearance at the finals since 1974.

Elsewhere, several Newcastle United players have been called up for international duty. Six members of the squad are part of England's preparations for upcoming friendlies against Uruguay and Japan at Wembley. Aaron Ramsdale has earned a recall after strong performances at club level, while Lewis Hall will be looking to add to his growing number of caps.

Dan Burn, Anthony Gordon and Tino Livramento have remained regular selections under Thomas Tuchel, and all will be aiming for minutes across the two fixtures. Harvey Barnes, who was added late to the squad, has another opportunity to impress after limited international exposure so far.

Germany have also included Newcastle duo Nick Woltemade and Malick Thiaw in their squad for friendlies against Switzerland and Ghana. Woltemade has been in impressive form internationally, scoring four goals in his last three appearances, while Thiaw continues to build on his experience at senior level.

In Italy's camp, Sandro Tonali is set to feature in a crucial World Cup qualifying clash against Northern Ireland. The winner will move one step closer to securing a place at the finals.

Anthony Elanga will represent Sweden in their qualification semi-final against Ukraine, with a potential final against Poland or Albania awaiting. Meanwhile, William Osula has been named in Denmark's squad but is still waiting for his senior debut as they face North Macedonia.

At youth level, Alex Murphy has been included in the Republic of Ireland Under-21 squad for qualifiers against Moldova and Kazakhstan, continuing his steady development on the international stage.
