'We’ll focus on the positives and move on,' says Gavin Hunt after narrow Kaizer Chiefs defeat

Hunt's side most recently lost 1-0 to Kaizer Chiefs in the Betway Premiership at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Friday night.

City were not without their chances and even had the ball in the back of the net through Katlego Maphathe only for the goal to be ruled out for offside.

A late header from Fabio Silva ultimately sealed the result - to leave Hunt's side in seventh place with 11 points from their opening 15 games.

Amakhosi are in fourth place with 19 points from 10 games.

Reflecting on the game, Hunt praised his side's performance but admitted they need to create more goalscoring chances.

"The dressing room is obviously devastated after being so close but yet so far," Hunt said in the Citizen.

"But as I said to them with regards to the last three games, in football you have to give yourself something to hold onto and we haven’t done that with regularity. If you don’t score, you don’t have a chance.

"We had one or two moments there where we could’ve scored but the ball didn’t fall in the right way.

"In the end, you have to look at the positives. You can’t put so much in and not get anything out, so we’ll focus on those and move on.”

Hunt though added that he expects his team to improve throughout the season.

“I’ve coached a lot of football teams and I know when I know,” Hunt explained. "There’s a lot from this football team that still hasn’t come out, but we have to get better at certain things — and one of those is concentration.”

City are next in action against Marumo Gallants at Chatsworth Stadium on Wednesday.
