Tshepang Moremi scored the only goal of the game at the Orlando Stadium in the first half.
The result left the Buccaneers in third place on the Betway Premiership standings with 18 points from eight games - three points adrift of league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns with two games in hand.
Speaking after the game, Ouaddou praised his players but admitted it was a concern that they were not able to score more goals against sixth-placed Polokwane.
The Bucs boss told SuperSport: "Yes, three important points. It was not easy, I think the guys did well.
"Polokwane were strong especially in the second half. They came to press us in the second half, with a lot of ambition maybe to equalise, but I have to congratulate the boys because they had strength, character, and personality.
"But we wanted to score more goals, we had the chances to definitely kill the game, but it's an area we have to improve especially this Saturday we need to score goals."
Pirates are next in action against Saint-Eloi Lupopo in their CAF Champions League second round second leg qualifier on Saturday.
They are 3-0 down from the first leg. Ouaddou added: "It will be an important game in the history of the club. We know that we need to score four goals but it will not be easy, but we will prepare for that."
