AmaZulu closed out their Betway Premiership season with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Durban City at Chatsworth Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
In an entertaining encounter played before a lively crowd, the decisive moment arrived 10 minutes from full time when Mondli Mbanjwa flicked on a delivery for Nkosikhona Radebe, who guided a looping header into the far corner.
The opening half was evenly contested with limited clear chances, although AmaZulu looked the more threatening side early on. Athini Maqokola narrowly missed the bottom corner in the 25th minute before later racing through on goal, only for Frederick Asare to rush off his line and make an important block near the edge of the box. The AmaZulu goalkeeper was injured in the process and replaced by Darren Keet.
Durban City improved after the interval as Thabo Nodada forced a save from Richard Ofori, while Sphiwe Mahlangu headed narrowly wide from Tshanini Falakhe's cross. Despite the defeat, Durban City still secured a top-eight finish after winning the Nedbank Cup earlier this month.
Golden Arrows 0-0 TS Galaxy
Golden Arrows and TS Galaxy played out a 0-0 draw in a match of little consequence. Both sides had little to play for, with TS Galaxy having already secured safety from relegation and Arrows guaranteeing a top-eight finish.
The contest proved a stale affair, with no goals scored throughout the match. Coached by Manqoba Mngqithi, Arrows edged the attacking statistics and could have won on another day despite the stalemate.
Magesi FC 1-0 Richards Bay
Magesi FC claimed a narrow 1-0 victory over Richards Bay FC at Seshego Stadium in Polokwane, to avoid the automatic drop.
Mcedi Vandala converted a second-half penalty after Edmore Chirambadare was fouled in the box, giving Magesi a deserved lead.
The hosts controlled much of the game with several corners and shots, though they squandered late opportunities. Richards Bay created few threats and finished frustrated.
Magesi FC ended the season in 15th place with 24 points and will go into the relegation play-offs, while Orbit College went down. Richards Bay finished a safe 11th with 34 points.
Marumo Gallants 0-0 Stellenbosch FC
Marumo Gallants and Stellenbosch FC shared a cautious 0-0 stalemate at Dr. Petrus Molemela Stadium in Bloemfontein.
Both teams defended well in a low-key affair with limited clear chances. Stellenbosch threatened through Tshegofatso Mabasa and Langelihle Phili, but Marumo goalkeeper Kagiso Mlambo was equal to the task. A flurry of late substitutions couldn't break the deadlock.
Marumo Gallants finished 14th with 24 points, avoiding automatic relegation but remaining close to the danger zone. Stellenbosch FC ended a respectable 9th with 36 points.
Sekhukhune United 2-2 Siwelele
Sekhukhune United produced a spirited comeback to draw 2-2 with Siwelele at Peter Mokaba Stadium in an entertaining end-of-season clash.
Siwelele took a 2-0 halftime lead with a Gamphani Lungu header and a Sphesihle Jeza strike. Sekhukhune fought back strongly after the break: Tshepo Mokoane pulled one back, and Bright Ndlovu levelled with a superb long-range strike in the 90th minute.
The high-intensity match featured plenty of fouls, yellow cards, and drama. Sekhukhune United wrapped up a strong campaign in **5th place** with 43 points, while Siwelele finished 10th with 36 points.
These results concluded the regular season, with Orlando Pirates crowned champions and Mamelodi Sundowns finishing second.
