Amakhosi came into the First round tie 1-0 down from the first leg but levelled the score when Glody Lilepo netted after 41 minutes at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.

The match went to penalties and Gaston Sirino, Reeve Frosler, Thabo Cele, Flavio Silva, and Aden McCarthy were all successful from the spot as Brandon Petersen made one crucial save for a 5-4 win.

Speaking after the game, the Amakhosi coach admitted they had plenty of chances to win the tie in normal time, but he was nevertheless happy to progress.

He said in the Citizen: "We tried [to score] we have opportunities to score the second goal but unfortunately, we didn't and had to go to penalties, and I have to give credit to the boys.

"The calmness under huge pressure and now everyone is happy, we go into the second round, we're happy for the club and the fans too."

Kaze says Amakhosi are improving with every game and expects results to improve when all of their new signings are available for selection.

Khanyisa Mayo made an immediate impact when he netted a goal on his league debut in the Betway Premiership draw with Marumo Gallants, but the likes of Luke Baartman, Ethan Chislett, Asanele Velebayi, Etiosa Ighodaro are still waiting in the wings for their chance to play.

"I would say that situations are different, the previous games, the last pass, the last movement before the last pass wasn't good," added the coach.

"But today the chances and the last passes were there. The only thing we need to do is keep working, The good things is that going into the next game we have more players, more options that will be available, which we hope will help as well."

Chiefs are next in action at home against AmaZulu on Wednesday.
