Julian Brandt pushes for new Borussia Dortmund deal amid uncertain future

Julian Brandt pushes for new Borussia Dortmund deal amid uncertain future

According to Bild, Brandt, whose current deal expires next summer, feels "completely at home" at Dortmund and hopes to extend his stay past 2026.

However, the club are yet to make a firm decision, choosing instead to monitor the 29-year-old's form before committing to a new deal.

Dortmund's managing director for sport, Lars Ricken, has already hinted that the player's performances will determine his future. Speaking to Sky in August, Ricken said: "The contract is running out, but the future is open. We're watching how the season unfolds.

"He's working his way out of a rough patch, and I can also imagine a contract extension if his performances are right."

Brandt, who joined Dortmund from Bayer Leverkusen in 2019, remains one of the most experienced players in the squad. Despite his strong desire to stay, his limited game time has raised questions about his role under Niko Kovac.

So far this season, Brandt has made eight appearances in all competitions but has only started twice.

Known for his creativity and technical ability, Brandt has often been a key figure in Dortmund's attacking play when at his best. The coming months are likely to be crucial as both player and club weigh up their next steps. .
