Morocco sweat on double injury blow before Brazil FIFA World Cup clash

The pair both picked up problems in Sunday's match, raising doubts about their availability for the Group D clash against Brazil at the MetLife Stadium.

Ezzalzouli was withdrawn at half-time after suffering a leg injury, while Mazraoui lasted just 29 minutes before coming off with a shoulder issue following a physical contest. Morocco had taken an early lead in the match, but Norway fought back to level the score with 15 minutes remaining.

Despite the concern over injuries, Morocco head coach Mohamed Ouahbi said there were positives to take from the performance, particularly given the number of changes made to the squad.

"We left a good impression despite not winning because we really showed some very good things against a very good opponent," Ouahbi said.

"That's the point of playing against teams like this. When you make so many changes, it's difficult for the player but it was important that we managed everyone's playing time."

However, the coach admitted the focus quickly shifted to the condition of his players after the final whistle.

"Two players went off injured. We're waiting to see how serious it is. I'm more concerned about that," he added.

Morocco, who reached the semi-finals at the last World Cup, head into the tournament with high expectations once again after establishing themselves as one of Africa's strongest sides on the global stage.

Their opening test against five-time champions Brazil is set to be a major early indicator of their chances in the competition.
