Ruben Amorim: Man Utd 'create' but 'don't score'

United have struggled for goals in recent Premier League matches, particularly at home and in the first halves of games.

In a bid to spark creativity, Amorim recently deployed young midfielder Kobbie Mainoo as a 'false nine' in their 2-0 defeat to Crystal Palace.

While the experiment did not yield the desired result, the manager has hinted at further tactical adjustments, suggesting more players may be handed alternative attacking roles.

New signing Patrick Dorgu is expected to provide an attacking threat from either flank, though Amorim acknowledges the 19-year-old will need time to adapt to English football.

Nevertheless, he has called on his squad to embrace the challenge of adapting to different roles in order to improve their offensive output.

"We have to find players to play in the different positions," he told reporters.

"We can say in the way we play, with Dorgu, we have one more winger to play in both sides. Of course, it's going to take time so it's not going to solve all the problems.

"We have to improve. We create chances, we don't score. We have many shots inside the box and we catch [hit] always one player, so these small things, I think we can improve.

"I think Amad can score more, Bruno [Fernandes] can score more, even Kobbie Mainoo can score more, playing in that position a little bit further on the pitch.

“So, we have to improve as a team, we have a little bit more time. Let's see in the end of the season.”
