West Ham sack manager Graham Potter after torrid start to the season

The Hammers currently sit second from bottom in the Premier League standings having fallen to defeat in four of their opening five matches.

A statement from West Ham said: "West Ham United can confirm that head coach Graham Potter has left the club.

"Results and performances over the course of the second half of last season and the start of the 2025/26 season have not matched expectations, and the board of directors believe that a change is necessary in order to help improve the team's position in the Premier League as soon as possible."

Potter replaced Julen Lopetegui as head coach on a two-and-a-half-year contract in January with West Ham finishing 14th at the end of the last season.

Potter been sacked after winning just six of 23 Premier League games.

Former Nottingham Forest head coach Nuno Espirito Santo is early favourite to be the new man at the helm of West Ham.
