Five Premier League teams consider Bayer Leverkusen's Nathan Tella
Nigeria and Bayer Leverkusen forward Nathan Tella has reportedly attracted interest from five Premier League clubs during this summer transfer window.
The decision comes after weeks of speculation surrounding the 23-year-old striker, who had emerged as a key target for Bayern's attacking rebuild.
The Bavarians had reached a verbal agreement with Woltemade, offering a long-term contract until 2030, according to reports from Sky Germany's Florian Plettenberg. They tabled a 55 million euros bid, including add-ons, but Stuttgart held firm, demanding closer to 65 million euros for their versatile forward, who scored 17 goals and provided three assists in the Bundesliga last season.
Stuttgart's refusal to budge frustrated Bayern's efforts. "We've said enough on the topic," Max Eberl, Bayern's board member for sport, told reporters after a 4-0 friendly win over Tottenham. "Stuttgart have shown no willingness to talk. For us, the matter is off the table."
Eberl also quashed rumours of an ultimatum from Woltemade's camp, saying, "I've heard nothing of the sort. I only saw it reported in the media."
Woltemade, who shone at the 2025 UEFA Under-21 European Championship with nine goal contributions, had been seen as a potential stand-in for the injured Jamal Musiala in midfield and a future successor to Harry Kane up top.
Despite interest from Premier League sides like Manchester United and Newcastle, the player made it clear he wanted to join Bayern, informing Stuttgart of his desire to leave as recently as late July, according to Bild.
However, Stuttgart's sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth remained unmoved, stating, "We assume nothing will change for Woltemade in the coming months," signaling their intent to keep the striker at least until the DFL-Supercup on August 16.
With the transfer window closing soon, Bayern now face a critical decision. They could pivot to other targets or rely on their current squad to cover Musiala's absence.
For now, Woltemade remains a Stuttgart player, and Bayern's focus shifts to other options as they prepare for a competitive season ahead.
