McIlroy eyes future goals after Masters win, says Justin Rose 'deserves' another major
Rory McIlroy has backed Justin Rose to claim a long-awaited second major title, after the Englishman suffered yet another near miss at The Masters on Sunday.

Arriving at the 2026 tournament on the back of consecutive LIV Golf victories and with a strong recent record at Augusta, the two-time U.S. Open champion looked set to play the weekend. He stood at three over par for the tournament heading to the final hole of his second round, needing only a bogey at the par-four 18th to progress.
Instead, DeChambeau carded a triple-bogey seven to finish on six over par for 36 holes, two shots outside the cut line.
His second-round 74 had featured four birdies and three bogeys prior to the closing hole, where his round unraveled. A wayward tee shot found trouble to the right, forcing a recovery that led to the greenside bunker. He then needed multiple attempts to escape the sand, before a chip ran well past the hole. After missing his putt for double bogey, he tapped in for a seven to end his round.
It capped a difficult week for DeChambeau, who had already endured a triple bogey in his opening round of 76 after struggling in the bunker at the par-four 11th.
His 36-hole total of 150 left him well outside the top 50 and ties required to make the cut, marking an early exit from the tournament. DeChambeau did not speak to reporters following his round.
