Jonathan David's Juventus signing backed by Federico Gatti

The 25-year-old forward, fresh from a prolific spell at Lille, joins the Bianconeri with a reputation as one of Europe's most consistent goalscorers, having netted 109 goals in 232 appearances for the French club.

The Old Lady outmaneuvered heavy competition from clubs like Barcelona, Manchester United, and Napoli to secure David's signature on a five-year deal until June 2030, as confirmed by Juventus' official statement. The transfer, finalized on July 4, 2025, includes a salary of 6 million euros per season plus 2 million in bonuses, with ancillary costs of 12.5 million euros payable over three years.

Gatti, a key figure in Juventus' dressing room, expressed confidence in David's ability to adapt to the tactical rigors of Serie A. "We faced Jonathan last year in the Champions League with Lille," Gatti told Tuttomercatoweb. "He's an excellent striker. Serie A is different, tactics dominate, and there's less space, but David has all the tools to succeed here."

David's arrival comes at a pivotal moment for Juventus, with Dusan Vlahovic's future uncertain as his contract nears its 2026 expiry. The Canadian could become the focal point of the attack, bringing versatility and a proven goal-scoring instinct. His 25 goals and 12 assists in 49 matches for Lille last season underline his potential to shine in Italy.

Fans are buzzing with excitement, especially after Juventus announced David's official presentation, where he revealed his choice of the number 30 shirt in honor of his father's birthday. "This club wants to win, and I do too," David said at his press conference, highlighting discussions with manager Igor Tudor about his role. "Tudor asked about my expectations and shared his. My job is to score goals, and we talked a lot about that."

David also explained why he chose Juventus over other offers, including lucrative proposals from Saudi Arabia. "I spoke with the management and my teammates. There was great interest in me coming to Juve, which is a great club," he told reporters.

With Serie A's defensive discipline posing a unique challenge, Juventus believe David's work rate and finishing can unlock tight defenses. His debut in a Juventus kit is eagerly awaited, with the club set to kick off their Serie A campaign against Parma on August 24, 2025.

As Juventus aim to reclaim domestic and European glory, David's integration will be key. Backed by Gatti's leadership and Tudor's tactical vision, the Canadian striker has the platform to become a cornerstone of the Bianconeri's ambitions.
