Liverpool fixtures: Reds face early Arsenal and Newcastle tests

Slot led Liverpool to their 20th league title in his first season in charge after taking over from Jurgen Klopp, equalling rivals Manchester United's record of 20 titles won.

Many doubted he would fill the big boots of his predecessor Klopp, but Slot exceeded expectations as the Reds won the title with four games to spare and ten points ahead of second-placed Arsenal.

Liverpool fixtures 2025:

August 15: Liverpool vs Bournemouth

August 25: Newcastle vs Liverpool

August 31: Liverpool vs Arsenal

September 14: Burnley vs Liverpool

September 20: Liverpool vs Everton

Slot's side kick off at Anfield against last season's ninth-placed side Bournemouth but things get tougher right away with a trip to Newcastle. The Magpies play with energy and aggression and St James' Park is never an easy place to visit.

Then comes a huge early clash against Arsenal at home. Arguably the marquee fixture of the opening month, this is a showdown between last season's top two. Arsenal pushed Liverpool at times in the 2024/25 season but fell away in the final stretch. Mikel Arteta's side will be eager to make an early statement, while Liverpool will want to stamp their authority and remind everyone why they're champions. Expect a high-quality, tactical battle.

After that, September sees them travel to Burnley - never a simple outing right after an international break - and then return to Anfield for the always-intense Merseyside derby against Everton.

In terms of transfer activity The Anfield outfit have spent close to 300 million pounds - signing attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz, forward Hugo Ekitike as well as full-backs Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez. Meanwhile two big-names - Trent Alexander-Arnold and Luis Diaz - have left the club.

Slot is feeling confident about his side retaining their title and says they could still add one or two more players. "We can find one or two extra weapons," said the Dutch tactician.

With a full preseason under their new manager and lots of money spent, Liverpool look ready to fight for another title and stay among Europe's best.
