Report: Man Utd's Rasmus Hojlund faces Premier League lifeline as Fulham push for shock transfer

The Cottagers are actively seeking a new goalscorer as they brace for the potential departure of Rodrigo Muniz, who has attracted bids from Atalanta, according to the Daily Mail.

Manchester United, under manager Ruben Amorim, have undergone a significant attacking overhaul this summer, bringing in Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha, and Bryan Mbeumo to bolster their frontline. These additions come after a disappointing 2024-25 season, where United finished 15th in the Premier League with one of the division's lowest goal tallies.

Hojlund, alongside teammate Joshua Zirkzee, struggled last term, with the pair managing just seven league goals combined.

The Red Devils have made it clear to Hojlund that his playing time will be limited this season, prompting the 22-year-old to reconsider his future. While he initially expressed a desire to fight for his place at Old Trafford, recent reports suggest he has reluctantly accepted the need to move on to secure regular minutes.

Serie A clubs, particularly AC Milan, have been heavily linked with Hojlund. The Italian giants have proposed a loan deal with a 4.5 million pounds fee and an option to buy for 39 million pounds, according to Sky Italia. Inter Milan and Roma have also shown interest, but no deal has been finalized.

However, Fulham's interest could keep Hojlund in England. The London club are weighing up a move but want confirmation that the striker is open to joining them before submitting an offer, as reported by the Daily Mail.

Manager Marco Silva is keen to replace Muniz, and Hojlund's physicality and potential make him an attractive target. Football Insider noted that Fulham are "accelerating" their efforts to sell Muniz, which could pave the way for a swift move for Hojlund.

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has publicly backed Hojlund to seek a fresh start elsewhere. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ferdinand said: "I think Rasmus Hojlund has to go out on loan, minimum, for a fresh start. Italy, he knows the place and did well out there. Milan would be good for him."

He added that United's new management, led by INEOS, should not hesitate to cut their losses on the 64 million pounds signing, stating: "If he's not right, cut your losses. They're doing a cleanup process right now to try and clean the decks."

Hojlund, who joined United from Atalanta in 2023, has scored 26 goals in 95 appearances for the club but managed only four Premier League goals last season. His contract runs until 2028, with a market value estimated at 35 million euros by Transfermarkt.

As the transfer window nears its close, Manchester United are also looking to offload other players, including Alejandro Garnacho and Jadon Sancho, to fund potential moves for a midfielder and a goalkeeper.

For Hojlund, a move to Craven Cottage could offer a chance to rediscover his form in the Premier League, while a return to Serie A remains a strong possibility. The coming weeks will be crucial in determining his next step.
