South Africa's Thriston Lawrence on the cusp at Omega European Masters
Thriston Lawrence will take a two-stroke lead heading into the final round of the weather-affected Omega European Masters on Sunday.
The 28-year-old has had a couple of trips down the iconic Magnolia Lane, turning out two respectable performances. MacIntyre finished T12 on his debut in 2021 and T23 the following year.
But the last 12 months have seen MacIntyre play the best golf of his young career. He bagged his first two PGA Tour titles at the RBC Canadian Open and the Genesis Scottish Open last year.
MacIntyre has backed this up with three top-ten finishes in nine events so far in 2025. Among high-quality fields at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and The Players Championship, the Scot finished T11, then followed it up with a solo ninth place at TPC Sawgrass.
As such, MacIntyre is feeling positive ahead of his Masters campaign.
"I think it's just the consistency of my game this year that has been a lot better," said the three-time DP World Tour winner.
"Driving the ball [well], hitting more fairways, the percentages are up which makes life a lot easier in hitting the greens.
"All the stats snowball from that, although the putting has not been as good, tee to green the stats have been far far better than last year.
"I think it's just the shot shape and having to move it both ways. Obviously, I predominantly fade it for a left hander which with the modern equipment is a lot easier.
"But then just the tougher holes or a few of the funky holes set up nicely for a lefty for a mis-hit. Like 12, if you mis-hit it clean, short left, it catches the green, if you pull it it catches back right whereas vice versa for a right hander it is long left and in trouble, short right it's in the water."
