Austin Smotherman rides hot putter to nine-under lead at Cognizant Classic
Austin Smotherman surged into the clubhouse lead with a flawless nine-under-par 62 at the Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches on Thursday in Florida.

Penge and Bridgeman both fired impressive seven-under par 64s on Friday to share the lead on 12 under par at Riviera Country Club.
England's Penge posted seven birdies without a bogey on the way, while Bridgeman birdied his last three holes to set a similar target.
"I think my driving has been kind of the way I normally drive the ball. It's definitely the best part of my game by far," said Penge.
McIlroy shot a six-under par 65 that featured an eagle and four birdies to lie one ahead of Xander Schauffele (65) and Adam Scott, whose 63 was the best round of the day.
"No bogeys is always nice," McIlroy said. "Making one bogey through the first 36 holes compared to the big numbers I had last week ... Tidied everything up, which is good."
"Overall really pleased with the day and excited for the weekend."
World number one Scottie Scheffler only just made the cut after rallying to post a 68 - ensuring his streak of made cuts continued. The American has now made the cut 68 consecutive times.
