Si Woo Kim narrowly misses out on magical 59 but surges clear at Byron Nelson
South Korea's Si Woo Kim fired a sensational 11-under-par 60 on Friday to storm into a commanding five-shot lead at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson in McKinney, Texas.

The South Korean carded a three under 68 around the benign TPC Craif Ranch on Saturday, reducing his five-shot lead to three as Scheffler and Clark lurk behind.
Kim's incredible 60 on Friday gave him a huge buffer going into the weekend, but his lead evaporated over the space of three holes, where he carded three bogeys to slip to a tie with Clark at the time. His inconsistent putter missed those three par putts inside ten feet, but he reeled off birdies on the 12th, 14th and 15th holes to eke ahead.
"I was thinking about too much scoring like first 10, 11 holes," reflected Kim.
"So I'm just trying to be back to kind of like yesterday. Yeah, just trying to hit the good shots and trying to like, all the mojo's back."
Meanwhile, 20-time PGA Tour winner Scheffler would sign for a six-under 65 to put him well in contention.
"Two shots back going into tomorrow, so I'm looking forward to the challenge," said the American.
"It's always fun when I get to play with Si Woo. I think it's good for the community to have two guys that are local up there on the leaderboard. Should be a fun day tomorrow."
Meanwhile, Clark - a three-time tour winner seeking his first victory since Pebble Beach in 2024 - is well aware of the birdie blitz needed to take home the Sunday silverware this week.
"It's fun being in contention," he said.
"Whether you have to shoot 8 under to win or 1 under to win, it's fun because you still feel the same heat. Tomorrow it's probably going to be exactly that way where you have to make a ton of birdies."
