South Africa's Yurav Premlall cruises to maiden title in Spain with stunning 14-shot victory

Premlall started the day with a five-shot lead after shooting a sensational 63 on Saturday, and soon pulled away from the chasing pack, with six birdies on the front nine handing him a 12-shot lead at the turn.

Further gains on the 12th and 13th stretched his advantage to 14 strokes and raised the prospect of Tiger Woods' 26-year-old record for the largest winning margin on the DP World Tour - 15 shots - being within reach.

A first dropped shot of the day on the 14th made breaking the record seem unlikely but he gave it a good go, finishing with back-to-back birdies to fall one shot short.

His consolation prize was the record-winning margin for a maiden title on the DP World Tour, a life-changing first victory at this level and a score of 28 under par for the week.

Premlall's week's work has not only secured him the winner's cheque and a nice payday for breaking the course record, but the 22-year-old also leaps to 26th on the 2026 Race to Dubai Rankings Delivered by DP World, up from 157th.

Fellow South African Shaun Norris finished alone in second on 14 under after his closing 68.

Premlall said in his post-round interview: "No words. I've worked so hard to get into this position and it's so rewarding to finally see the results of it.

"I mean the last eight, nine months have been such a struggle just to build myself onto a platform where I know I could give myself a chance to win and to end up obviously in this position.

"I'm just so grateful so it's a dream come true.

"I'll start with my mum - at least it's a Mother's Day present so happy Mother's Day, mum! And yeah, for my dad we worked so hard to get here.

"There's not much else I can say. I mean my whole team, support structure, all my family. It's so rewarding to stand up on this pedestal and be able to thank everyone for being part of this journey so far."
