Bulls unveil new signings in major squad rebuild ahead of next URC season

Former Sharks and Springbok flyhalf Curwin Bosch joins from French club Brive on a three-year deal from July and adds further experience and tactical kicking strength at flyhalf.

Wing Thaakir Abrahams, meanwhile, returns from Munster on a two-year contract to bolster the back three.

The Bulls also secured highly rated 19-year-old flyhalf Luan Giliomee on a three-year deal after his breakout URC appearance for the Sharks earlier this year, with the club viewing him as a long-term option in the No 10 jersey.

Further backline additions include Hakeem Kunene (three years), Dylan Maart from Griquas, and Pumas centre Sango Xamlashe (two years), all set to join after the Currie Cup, strengthening depth across wing, fullback and midfield.

In the forwards, the Bulls have added size and power with the signing of 132kg tighthead prop Mawande Ndanda from the Sharks on a two-year deal, arriving in July to reinforce the front row.

The club also confirmed the return of former Junior Springbok captain Hanro Liebenberg, who will rejoin Pretoria from Leicester Tigers ahead of the 2026/27 season on a three-year deal, providing leadership in the loose trio.

Blue Bulls Company CEO Edgar Rathbone said the recruitment drive was part of a targeted strategy to improve depth and maintain competitiveness in both the Vodacom United Rugby Championship and European competition.

"We have been very deliberate in our recruitment process, identifying specific areas where we felt we needed to bolster our depth and experience," he said.

"Bringing in players of this calibre, ranging from proven match-winners to the most exciting young talent in the country, is a clear statement of our intent. The Bulls also confirmed several junior-to-senior contract extensions, including Jean Erasmus, Heinrich Theron, JJ Theron, Pieter van der Merwe and Demetri Erasmus, all signing multi-year deals as part of long-term squad planning.
