Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma backing themselves to reach 2027 World Cup, says former India coach
Former India coach Ravi Shastri claims legends Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma believe they have what it takes to reach the 2027 ODI World Cup.
India won the toss, chose to bat and got a decent opening partnership of 48 out of Pratika Rawal and Smriti Mandhana before the latter was dismissed leg before wicket by Fatima Sana for 23.
The highest score of the innings was made by Harleen Deol, who came in at three and knocked off 46 in 65 balls before she holed out against Rameen Shamim.
Rawal (31), Jemimah Rodrigues (32), Deepti Sharma (25), Sneh Rana (20) and Richa Gosh (35) all also got starts without managing to kick on as India set a total of 247 from their 50 overs.
Diana Baig starred with the ball for Pakistan with figures of 4/69 from her 10 overs, while Sadia Iqbal and Fatima Sana each got two wickets.
Pakistan got off to a slow start with the bat, losing both Muneeba Ali (2) and Sadaf Shamas (6) inside the first 10 overs.
Sidra Amin played a superb knock of 81 off 106 balls to get their innings back on track.
However, they kept losing wickets at regular intervals and only Natalia Pervaiz (33) was able to make a meaningful score.
Ultimately, they were bowled out for 159 in 43 overs, falling 88 runs short of the target.
Kranti Goud had the best bowling figures of 3/20 from 10 overs. Deepti Sharma also picked up three wickets in her 10 overs, while Sneh Rana got two wickets and their were two run outs.
